Watching the cute cousins run and play has to be my favorite part of summer.

We usually kick off the summer with Kent's birthday in June. Marissa, being the oldest baby, is helping the other babies learn how we do things.

It just wouldn't be summer without at least one trip to Whiting Park up Maple Canyon. This was a spur of the moment pot-luck dinner. Whiting is only 5 minutes away and is shady and green and cool (everything our house is not). I wonder why we don't go there more often.

The Art City Days Parade is usually the second Saturday in June. Every year we say we're not going, but I bet we haven't missed more than 4 or 5 over the past 35 years. It has magical powers that compel us to go. We also say we're not going to the fireworks every year, and we don't.

Baby Kian's birthday has to be the highlight of the summer. Here, Austenne is telling Grandpa how much she likes being a big sister.
